Robot Challenge 4 - Touch Sensor
Task: Learn how to attach sensors to a robot, program a robot to use its sensors while moving and trouble shoot the program and robot.
Instructions:
1. Watch the Touch Powerpoint
2. Collect the Touch Sensor Challenge sheets
3. Use the instructions in the Challenge sheet to add a sensor to your robot.
4. Complete Challenge 1
5. Watch the suggested solution and answer the question.
6. Complete Challenge 2
7. Watch the suggested solution and answer the question.
8. Complete the discussion questions
9. Complete the worksheet on sensors (you will need to look at the How do Human Sensors work Powerpoint to answer this)
Outcomes
MA4-1WM Communicates and connects mathematical ideas using appropriate terminology, diagrams and symbols
MA4-2WM Applies appropriate mathematical techniques to solve problems
MA4-3WM Recognises and explains mathematical relationships using reasoning
SC4-WS6 Students conduct investigations by:
b. assembling and using appropriate equipment and resources to perform the investigation, including safety equipment
e. recording observations and measurements accurately, using appropriate units for physical quantities
SC4-WS7.1 Students process data and information by:
e. applying simple numerical procedures, eg calculating means when processing data and information, as appropriate
SC4-WS7.2 Students analyse data and information by:
f. reflecting on the method used to investigate a question or solve a problem, including evaluating the quality of the data collected (ACSIS131, ACSIS146)
SC4-10PW PW1 Change to an object’s motion is caused by unbalanced forces acting on the object. (ACSSU117)
a. identify changes that take place when particular forces are acting
b. predict the effect of unbalanced forces acting in everyday situations
Success checklist:
Have you...1. Learned how to use the Touch Sensor
2. Learned how to use the Wait For Block
3. Learned the difference between the Wait For Block and the Sensor Blocks
4. Learned when to use Move Block’s “On” mode
5. Added a touch sensor to your Robot
6. Completed the challenges? Demonstrated to your teacher.
